FAQ
Questions founders ask us
About fees, how we work, and getting started.
Fees
How do your flat fees work?
We quote a fixed price for each piece of work in writing before we start. If the work changes, like an unexpected office action, we quote the new step before doing it.
Are government fees included?
No. USPTO and Copyright Office fees are separate, passed through at cost, and listed on every quote.
Do you charge for the first call?
No. The first call is a short conversation about what you need and what it would cost.
Working together
Do you work with clients outside Minneapolis?
Yes. Trademark, copyright and patent filings are federal, so we work with founders and creators across the country by phone and video.
Who will I work with?
The lawyer who leads your practice area, from the first call to the filing. You'll have their direct email.
Will you sign an NDA before I tell you my idea?
We're bound to keep what you tell us confidential once you're a client. Before then, we're happy to sign a short confidentiality letter.
Getting started
What should I send before the first call?
A sentence on what you're building, and the name, work or invention it's about. Don't send confidential details until we've checked for conflicts.
How soon can you file?
Once you've signed the engagement letter and we've agreed on the quote, we schedule the filing and tell you the date.
Still wondering what it would cost?
Tell us what you need, and we'll send a flat-fee quote.
