Copyrights
Make it: copyrights
You own a copyright the moment you make the work. Registering it, and getting the right signatures from the people you paid, is what lets you enforce it.
We register software, writing, photography, illustration, music and design. For companies, the bigger question is usually who owns work a contractor or agency made, so we write the assignments that settle it. When someone copies your work, we send the takedown notices and the letters.

How it works
From first call to certificate
- 01
Step 1: Tell us about the work
What it is, who made it, and whether anyone was paid to help.
- 02
Step 2: Sort out ownership
If a contractor contributed, we get an assignment signed first.
- 03
Step 3: We register
We prepare the application and the deposit copy and file them.
- 04
Step 4: You get the certificate
The registration is public record, and it's what courts ask for.
Questions
Questions about copyrights
Is a copyright registration required?
Not to own the work. It is required before you can sue over a U.S. work, and registering early lets you ask for statutory damages.
Can I register a whole app or website?
Usually yes, as one work, if it was published together. We'll tell you when parts need their own registrations.
Does paying a freelancer mean I own the work?
Not by itself. Most freelance work belongs to the freelancer until they sign an assignment.
